Decades 5 is the only producer in the world devoted to the 5th Bordeaux Varietal, Petit Verdot. Our philosophy in working with Petit Verdot in Napa Valley is to maintain as much of the natural integrity of the varietal and vineyard as possible. Sourcing from warmer blocks in the heart of Stagecoach Vineyard, our Petit Verdot enjoys a long growing season, allowing for fully ripened berries.

Decades 5 2012
Our most recent release, the 2012 vintage, is a wonderful example of Petit Verdot. Though a challenging vintage for many parts of Napa Valley, we feel that the longer growing season and later harvest provided even further depth and elegance in our aromatic profile. The wine is noted for floral notes of violet and lily, complimented by more masculine characters of cigar box and bacon. This is a wine that will continue to evolve for several years as the fruit, minerality and oak regiment marry in the bottle.
Decades 5 is made from 100% Petit Verdot grapes and is barrel fermented in new French oak for a minimum of 26 months. The unique combination of terrior and climate result in a small corner of the wine world where this varietal can shine on its own merits.
Decades 5 2012
“2012 Decades 5 exhibits beautiful sweetness, lots of blueberry and blackberry fruit as well as white flower aromas, a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and surprisingly ripe, sweet tannin. Perhaps there is some magic in the Stagecoach Vineyard when it comes to this varietal. This impressive effort is a tour de force in Petit Verdot”
